Learn more about who we are and what we do.

The Lifespace Foundation is the charitable arm of Lifespace Communities. It serves to separate the main business interests of Lifespace Communities from the charitable mission which sets it apart from similar organizations. The Lifespace Foundation was established to create a distinction between the fees-for-services that our residents pay for living in a Lifespace community and the donations they and others give to support older adults and others served through the mission of The Foundation.

Lifespace Communities has 16 communities in seven states, providing a home for nearly 4,500 residents and a workplace for more than 2,500 team members. Lifespace Communities has guaranteed to provide residents a safe, comfortable life.  Thanks to philanthropic support, The Lifespace Foundation is able to go above and beyond those commitments, providing enhanced services and programs for our residents.

Yes.  The Lifespace Foundation is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. Our tax identification number is 42-1370848. The Lifespace Foundation is exempt from federal income tax under the federal tax code.

To support the health and welfare of our residents through philanthropy.

Each Lifespace Community has funds restricted for use at that community. A donor may choose to support one of the community-specific funds or one of the four Lifespace Foundation community-wide funds.  See “Support our Mission” for more information about available funds to support. If a gift is undesignated, the money will support the General Use Fund at the community of choice.  If a donor is not a current or former resident and no community is designated, that gift will support The Lifespace Foundation General Use Fund. The Lifespace Foundation General Use Fund is to be used as an umbrella to support any of the communities in a time of need.

Absolutely. When funds are donated to The Lifespace Foundation they are directly deposited, earmarked and coded to the specific community and fund to which the funds have been designated.

The Lifespace Foundation has several ways to ensure that your gift stays in your community. Each of our Lifespace Communities has its own, uniquely designated funds which are never commingled.  After a donation is made, donors will receive an acknowledgment letter confirming the fund to which the gift was designated, if this is incorrect, do not hesitate to reach out to The Foundation to let us know.

A Foundation Advisory Committee (FAC) is a group of residents, supported by team members that volunteer as advisors and ambassadors for the Foundation within your community. The committee meets on a regular basis, usually once a month.  Committee members identify and review needs within your community that may be supported through The Lifespace Foundation. Click on the “Communities” section to find out who is on your community’s Foundation Advisory Committee.
